About BASIS

BASIS focuses on strategy, process, organization and technology for ensuring the avilability of applications, systems and services.
This page is a collection point for papers, practices and lessons learned in connection with BASIS.

We believe that availability, business continuity and disaster recovery are the foundation of service delivery. This illustration, developed when Mike and I were developing a whitepaper on recovery management, shows the complex interrelationships among business and technical domains and processes.

We also developed policies, processes and procedures for facilities management for a competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) that opened our eyes to the daunting task of ensuring availability and the myraid of details and factors that need to be considered.
